Lee Orszaczky is a Sydney-based trombonist, bandleader & educator active on the jazz, pop & world music scene - best known for appearances with Beliza, the Sonic Boom Jazz Orchestra, The catholics and his own project Mosaic.

Described as posessing a “massive trombone sound” (John Shand, SMH), Orszaczky is currently completing his Honours in Jazz Studies at the Sydney Conservatorium and  has studied under James Greening and James Ryan, developing a distinctive improvisational style infused with energy and soul.

In 2023, Lee co-founded Mosaic, a 10-piece jazz ensemble dedicated to original works by Australian composers under twenty five.

Recognized as the 2024 2MBS Fine Music Sydney Artist in Residence, Mosaic released their debut album Where We Are Now in October 2024, which debuted at #2 on the ARIA Jazz & Blues chart and #4 on the AIR 100% Independent Albums chart.

The group held a year-long residency at Foundry616 and performed at major festivals including the Sydney Conservatorium Jazz Festival, Manly Jazz Festival, and Wangaratta Jazz Festival. Critics have described Mosaic as “a significant event in Australian Jazz History” (Eric Myers, The Australian) and “one of the most exciting new acts in the city's jazz scene” (Eastside FM). Lee continues to compose and perform with Mosaic, with their second studio album slated for recording in late 2025.

Beyond Mosaic, Orszaczky appears in various large and small ensemble jazz settings, playing on stage with groups such as The Squares, Ellen Kirkwood and the Extraordinaires, and The catholics. Lee also performs with Brazilian and Latin ensembles such as Beliza, Club Havana Band, and Armando Garcia’s Sydney Afro-Cuban Orchestra, regularly drawing sold-out crowds across NSW and appearing at festivals like Sydney's Streets Alive and Melbourne's Ritmo Latino.

He also holds a long-standing residency at Lazybones with James Ryan’s Sonic Boom Jazz Orchestra and has performed with the Dan Barnett Big Band, the Harrisson Ball Big Band, and Nic Pilatos’s Orchestra.

Additionally, Lee has contributed on bass trombone and euphonium to musical theatre productions including The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Merrily We Roll Along, The Producers, Nine to Five, and Kiss Me Kate, collaborating with various Sydney musical theatre societies.

Committed to music education, Lee teaches trombone and bass trombone, and conducts ensembles at several Sydney schools, including Macarthur Anglican School, Caringbah High School, SCEGGS Darlinghurst and Oatley West Public School
